Katarzyna Kuhlmann (University of Silesia at Katowice) Title: On the topological representation of a real holomorphy ring Abstract: The real holomorphy ring H of a formally real field K is the intersection of all real valuation rings. It can be used to study continuous functions from the space M of R-places (= ring homomorphisms from H to the field R of real numbers) into n-dimensional spheres S^n. Understanding these functions is very important for the study of sums of squares in formally real fields. The talk is based on results and an open question by Eberhard Becker.
